That would be useful to stop the registration when we are at capacity. For instance stop (or switch to a different waiting list project) after selling just X tickets.

You can now limit the number of submissions accepted on a single project (per submission or per payment received). Check the Settings of the project to configure the option. Look for "Deactivate project on custom submission limit" in the General Settings part. Support article soon to be released. Thank you all for your continuous support and suggestions.

I'd really like to see a feature enabling users to limit the number of participant submissions at the project level. The use case is an application form where there is a maximum number of seats to allocate.
EDIT: In the project settings, we could configure a variable stating to close the project after X submissions (or payments) have been received, then redirect visitors to another URL (waiting list sign-up form for instance).
