That would be useful to stop the registration when we are at capacity. For instance stop (or switch to a different waiting list project) after selling just X tickets.

You can now limit the number of submissions accepted on a single project (per submission or per payment received). Check the Settings of the project to configure the option. I'd really like to see a feature enabling users to limit the number of participant submissions at the project level. The use case is an application form where there is a maximum number of seats to allocate.
EDIT: In the project settings, we could configure a variable stating to close the project after X submissions (or payments) have been received, then redirect visitors to another URL (waiting list sign-up form for instance).
